Hawkwatch at Bonney Butte, Hood River County

WHERE: We will visit the Hawkwatch International Bonney Butte site on the Mt Hood National Forest. The trip will start at the Government Camp Rest area on Highway 26:

BIRDS AND SITE CONDITIONS:
Migrating raptors!
This trip requires travel coordination due road conditions in the final 4 miles of the route. This road is fairly rough with many exposed rocks and boulders, resulting in slow travel times. This road is best traveled in a higher clearance vehicles. If you do not have a higher clearance vehicle we will make every effort to arrange vehicle sharing. From the end of the road there is about a .5 mile walk uphill on a closed gravel road to the observation site.
Hawkwatch International bird monitoring activities at the site are weather dependent. Rain or snow will cancel this field trip and require possible rescheuling.
